Role Summary
Lead Alleanza's industrial switching operations and drive growth of the switching business — owning both the operational performance of the switching crews and the commercial relationships (Class I carriers and industrial shippers) that bring in new work. Reports to the COO.
Key Responsibilities
- Direct day-to-day switching operations across assigned sites, ensuring safety, efficiency, and service reliability.
- Supervise and develop switching crew supervisors and personnel — hiring, training, scheduling, and performance management.
- Enforce FRA and company safety standards and maintain compliance with operating rules.
- Serve as the primary point of contact for operational issues with rail carrier partners and shipper customers.
- Identify and pursue new industrial switching contract opportunities.
- Build and maintain relationships with Norfolk Southern, CSX, and other Class I carriers to support contract growth and referrals.
- Develop relationships directly with industrial shippers and prospective customers to expand the switching customer base.
- Prepare and present proposals, pricing, and service scopes for new business.
- Track market opportunities and competitive activity in the switching space.
Target Qualifications
- Minimum 7-10 years of experience in railroad operations, with direct experience in industrial or contract switching.
- Proven track record managing train-operations personnel, including crew supervision and scheduling.
- Demonstrated success in business development, contract negotiation, or account growth within the rail industry.
- Working knowledge of FRA regulations and railroad safety standards.
- Established relationships with Class I carriers strongly preferred.
- Strong communication and leadership skills.
- Willingness to travel to customer sites and operating locations as needed.
